Student Employment Job Fair -- The eighth annual Student Employment Job Fair will be held on Friday, Sept. 10, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Glass Pavilion on the Homewood campus. The fair offers faculty, staff and area business leaders the opportunity to meet with and interview over 1,000 qualified student applicants for part-time employment.

Any department that would like to reserve a booth at this year's event, or would like to have a part-time position posted at the fiar must register by Friday, Aug. 20. Volunteer Maryland Managers -- Johns Hopkins Hospital's Office of Volunteers Services are looking for people to coordinate a volunteer program that will place high school students from the East Baltimore community in volunteer positions at the hospital. Members of Americorps, the national service program, the volunteers dedicate one year to full-time service.

The volunteers must be willing to take on a challenge and create change in the East Baltimore community.

The Volunteer Maryland Managers program will provide a four-week training program at the start of the service year, as well as nine additional training days during the year to support skill development. VMM's receive a living stipend of $10,500, a post-service educational benefit of $4,725, and health insurance if they are not already covered. They may also qualify for a child care allowance. The service year begins Aug. 30 and ends July 21, 2000. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications early.

Volunteer Maryland Managers must be at least 17 years of age and have a high diploma or GED. The program looks for applicants who are dedicated to service and motivated; have leadership potential and be comfortable as a manager; have good interpersonal and writing skills; and have a positive attitude and a spirit of adventure.

Nursing Program Information Session -- The School of Nursing will hold an information session on the Business of Nursing, a 12-credit, 10-month graduate certificate program for nurse managers and executives, on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 5:30 p.m. in room 10 of the School of Nursing building at 525 N. Wolfe St.

The Business of Nursing is offered jointly by the schools of Nursing and Professional Studies in Business and Education.

Teach English as a Second Language -- The Johns Hopkins International Society at JHMI is looking for individuals interested in volunteering to teach English two to four hours each week for the organization's English as a Second Language program. Classes are offered to students, faculty and staff of the JHMI and will begin in late September.

The hours are flexible, and each instructor will receive a complete lesson plan. Teaching workshops are offered prior to each session. If you have some teaching experience and are interested in meeting individuals from many different countries, this is a unique opportunity.
