It was late morning on Thursday, March 18, when 127 School of Medicine seniors gathered in the Tilghman Room of Turner to discover which residency programs have accepted them for postdoctoral training.

Though this year marks the first time that participants in the National Residency Matching program--this year, more than 13,000 U.S. medical students--could learn about their futures via the World Wide Web, the Hopkins students honored a long-standing university tradition: At noon, they opened their envelopes.
