Hospice Volunteer Opportunities -- Johns Hopkins Home Hospice is a nonprofit home hospice program serving patients in the Baltimore metropolitan area. The hospice, which provides support to patients and families during the end stages of a terminal illness, is seeking volunteers to work in a variety of capacities. Volunteers are needed for direct patient service, bereavement care and administrative/office support; training is provided.

Classes for JHU Faculty and Staff -- The Department of Occupational Health Services (in conjunction with the Office of Benefits Administration) is offering classes for Johns Hopkins faculty and staff.

Yoga will be offered Mondays and Thursday evenings on the Homewood campus, beginning May 15. Cost for the class is $25 or $45.

Muscle conditioning and toning will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:15 to 1 p.m. in Levering Hall beginning on May 16. Cost for the class is $20 or $40. For more information, call 410-516-0450.


Mitochondria Research Society -- Volunteers are needed to assist in the activities of the Mitochondria Research Society, a newly formed organization established to deal with new and emerging diseases of the mitochondria. Beginning in the fall, the society will also publish Mitochrondrion, a peer-reviewed journal.

Recruiting Volunteer English Teachers -- The International Society of the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions is currently recruiting volunteer English as a Second Language teachers for the fall semester.

The program provides a semester of weekly two-hour sessions to international faculty, house staff, students and family members from the medical institutions. School of Nursing International Symposium -- The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing is co-sponsoring an international research symposium. The event will take place Tues., May 23, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the Alumni Auditorium of the School of Nursing, 525 N. Wolfe Street.
