Shuttles to Eastern High Campus Begin Today From Homewood, JHMI

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

Beginning today, free shuttle services will transport employees between the Homewood and Eastern High School campuses and between the Eastern and JHMI campuses.

The Homewood to JHU@E shuttle service will begin at 7:30 a.m. on April 2 from the rear of Shriver Hall. Service will end with the last trip departing from JHU@E at 6:30 p.m. Yellow Transportation is providing the service Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

The trip will take about 10 minutes each way with the shuttle running continuously, meaning it will depart each location every 10 minutes.

The shuttle will stop directly in front of the main entrance to JHU@E for dropoffs and pickups. The longest wait is expected to be no more than 20 minutes at either end, depending on heavy traffic, bad weather or wheelchair riders.

To stay on schedule during peak period service (early morning, lunchtime and late afternoon), the shuttle will not remain at the stops other than to receive or discharge passengers. The trip schedule will be fine-tuned as necessary, according to the Security Office.

Schedules are available at the Shriver Security Office, the security desk at JHU@E, which is located in the main lobby entrance, and on the shuttle.

The bus, which is new, has 24 seats and is air-conditioned. It will have a sign in the window distinguishing it as the JHU@E shuttle. An identification card indicating university or hospital affiliation is required.

Also on April 2, a shuttle service will begin from the Public Health Building (Monument Street entrance) at JHMI to JHU@E. This shuttle, provided by Broadway Services, will provide departures from each location every 20 minutes. This bus is for employees who work at Eastern and have to conduct business at East Baltimore, or vice versa. The service, which will operate Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, begins at 7:20 a.m. from Public Health and ends with the departure from Eastern at 6:40 p.m.
