Peabody Ragtime Ensemble celebrates its first 25 years

The Peabody Ragtime Ensemble will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a benefit concert for the Peabody Scholarship Fund at 8 p.m on Saturday, May 5, in the school's Friedberg Concert Hall. The ensemble was formed in 1974 while members were students at the Peabody Conservatory. Since then, the group, led by music director Ed Goldstein, has played over 4,000 engagements, including more than 1,550 school concerts under the auspices of Young Audiences of Maryland. The Ragtime Ensemble has toured abroad, to the Soviet Union in 1987 and to the Copenhagen Jazz Festival. The 25th anniversary concert will feature past and present members of the ensemble. Hopkins Federal Credit Union to host its annual meeting

The Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union will host its annual meeting at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, in the Glass Pavilion at Homewood. The event will include information tables, a report on the organizationšs outlook for the year and the nomination of candidates for its board of directors. JHM's 'Dome' takes a gold in annual CASE competition

Dome, a publication produced monthly for the Johns Hopkins Medicine family by the JHMI Office of Communications and Public Affairs, has been awarded a gold medal in the Internal Audience Periodicals category by the Council for the Support and Advancement of Education. Dome, which is edited by Mary Ann Ayd and Mary Ellen Miller, topped a field of 66 entries submitted by colleges and universities all over North America.

Memorial service scheduled for Gopal Khetawat of SPH

The School of Public Health's Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology will hold a memorial service for Gopal Khetawat at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 4, in 2030 SPH. Peabody pianist Paul Maillet to perform at Homewood

Paul Maillet, the first Yale Gordon Concerto Competition winner and distinguished artist-faculty member at the Peabody Institute, will give a performance titled "Spirituality in Music: Olivier Messiaen's "Quartet for the End of Time," at noon on Wednesday, April 18, in Shriver Hall, Homewood. Maillet and violinist Sheng Tsung Wang, cellist Benjamin Myers and clarinetist Louis Bianco will perform the work, which Messiaen wrote in 1941 while being held in a Nazi concentration camp. This performance is part of the Wednesday Noon Series presented by the Office of Special Events. The event is co-sponsored by the Peggy and Yale Gordon Trust. Admission is free.
