Bill Struever, president and chief executive officer of Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse, one of the region's largest redevelopment and construction companies, addressed approximately 230 guests at the second annual School of Professional Studies in Business and Education Undergraduate Division Spring Symposium, sponsored by alumnus William M. Ginder and his wife, Katherine B. Ginder.

In his slide-illustrated speech, "The Digital Harbor: Linking Business and Education," Struever stressed the interdependence of business and educational institutions and described how his firm has transformed old properties originally designed for an industrial-based economy into homes for an information-based, high-tech society.

"It was exciting because he provided a very hopeful vision of the future of Baltimore," said Toni Ungaretti, director of SPSBE's Undergraduate Division. "He demonstrated to students the positive return that could come from an investment in the city and stressed the value of working and living in the city. He showed beautiful properties along the waterfront that enabled people to have wonderful places to live and work without long commutes."
