'Nurses' Documentary TV Series to Get a JHM Send-off

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

Johns Hopkins Medicine has scheduled a series of events to coincide with the premier of Nurses, a five-part series from the Discovery Health Channel shot entirely at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions.

The first two episodes will air from 8 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28. The final three episodes will be shown on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 8, 9 and 10 p.m.

The Nurses kick-off event will be a breakfast on Jan. 24 at the National Press Club, where U.S. Sens. Barbara Mikulski and Kay Bailey Hutchinson and representatives of nursing and health care organizations have been invited to focus on the new image of nursing, as revealed in the documentary.

For Hopkins and Baltimore-area nurses, there will be a Hollywood-style bash on Thursday, Jan. 25, at Planet Hollywood in the Inner Harbor.

Lastly, all Hopkins employees and students are invited to attend premier parties at JHH, to be held Jan. 25 and 26 throughout the day. The hospital's Hurd Hall will be transformed into a movie theater--complete with marquee, red carpet and popcorn--where a 15-minute trailer of the series will be shown.

All events are sponsored by the Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Nursing and the School of Nursing.

For more information, contact Melissa Murray at 410-955-8668.

Nurses who plan to attend the Planet Hollywood event can contact 410-614-2282, or e-mail rsvp@jhmi.edu.
