On March 8, more than 350 men and women from the School of Medicine were honored at a reception in the Turner Building celebrating their five-, 10- and 15-year anniversaries at Johns Hopkins. The group that gathered at the 24th annual Staff Recognition Reception, which included honorees' department heads, represented a total of 3,180 years of service to the university. "It is truly amazing how Dr. Gilman, who was president of the university 125 years ago, had the ability to depict with startling accuracy the attributes that define a successful research university," said Edward D. Miller, dean of the medical faculty and CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine, in his opening remarks. "He also knew the importance of collaboration, and all of you in this room today should feel especially proud of the contributions that you have made in defining the Hopkins culture as it exists today."
