APL wins award for youth video 'Careers in Space'

The APL-produced video Careers in Space has won a Finalist Award in the 22nd Annual Telly Award competition in the Educational category. Aimed at 4th- to 6th-graders, the video looks at dozens of space-related jobs in the course of conducting a space mission.

JH Nurses' alumni group sets annual education program

"Outcomes Research: Why Do It?" is the theme of the annual Johns Hopkins Nurses' Alumni Association education program to be held Friday, June 8, from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Renaissance Inner Harbor Hotel.

The conference will focus on how outcomes research contributes to evidence-based nursing practice. The featured speakers are Marie Nolan, nurse researcher for nursing administration at The Johns Hopkins Hospital; Peggy Parks, psychologist and health insurance specialist with Health Care Financing Administration; Brenda Shelton, critical care clinical nurse specialist, Johns Hopkins Oncology Center; and Mary Beachley, president, Maryland Nurses Association.

Cost for the day is $70, $60 for Hopkins School of Nursing alumni, $30 for students and $20 for Hopkins School of Nursing students. For registration information, contact Melinda Rose at 410-955-4285 or mrose@son.jhmi.edu.


Summer aerobics classes are scheduled for staff and students

The Recreational Sports Department at Homewood is offering summer aerobics classes from May 14 through June 29. Classes will be held in the ROTC gym. Daily classes include a variety of step classes, cardio kickboxing, aerobic/line dance and yoga. Cost is $55 for staff, $30 for students.
