Welch Library Hosts Teleconference -- The Welch Medical Library will be a host site for "Safeguarding Our Patrons' Privacy: What Every Librarian Needs to Know About the USA Patriot Act and Related Antiterrorism Measures," a national interactive teleconference scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 11, from noon to 3 p.m., in the West Lecture Hall, Preclinical Teaching Building. There is no registration fee, but pre-registration is required.

Calling All Mentors -- JHHS Community Services is teaming with Collington Square Elementary School to improve the afterschool program and provide mentors to 140 children who participate in the program. Mentors are needed for one hour per week, any schoolday, between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m.

The afterschool program is structured to supplement the educational requirements for children in grades three through six at Collington Square Elementary, Dr. Rayner Browne Elementary and Elmer Henderson Elementary, who are either failing or whose parents are incarcerated. Online Journals Now Available -- A new collection of online psychology, psychiatry and neuroscience journals, PsycArticles, is now available through the Welch Library's Journals@Ovid electronic collection. PsycArticles provides full-text access to articles from 43 authoritative, peer-reviewed journals published by the American Psychological Association from 1988 to the present.

PsycArticles can be accessed from Welch e-Databases at www.welch.jhu.edu/eresources/edatabases.cfm.

The site allows users to keyword search across the entire collection or select from a list of individual titles.

Sponsor a Child for the Holidays -- The JHHS Department of Community Services is collecting unwrapped new toys and money--in the form of checks made payable to JHHS Community Services--for children who live in East Baltimore. This year, the families who will benefit are residents of an organization called Hope Village, formerly the Broadway Homes Tenants Association. Disney Club to Be Discontinued -- The Disney Club, which offered discounts to JHU employees through the Office of Faculty, Staff and Retiree Programs, has announced that it will close on Dec. 31. Current members' benefits will continue until the expiration dates on their cards or Dec. 31, whichever comes first. Renewals and new memberships will no longer be processed after Dec. 12.
