Blue Jays LAX tickets -- Tickets for the Blue Jays' 2002 lacrosse season are now available. To receive two complimentary season passes, faculty and staff members should bring a university ID to the main office in the Athletic Center between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. All full-time students get free admission by showing their J-Cards at the gate.


Spring IT Training for Professionals -- The School of Professional Studies in Business and Education is offering hands-on computer training courses and professional development seminars this spring that will enable individuals to enhance their skills. SPSBE also offers a comprehensive, competency-based Webmaster Certificate Program designed for professionals in career transition or those currently in technology who want to enhance their skills.

Among the new professional development seminars will be "Critical Web Decisions for Managers," "The Mechanics of Project Management" and "Introduction to E-Commerce Basics." New "Tips and Tricks" courses are offered for Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop and Web design, as are new courses in how to design an access database application and how to train a computer trainer.

Charity Basketball -- "Hoops for Awareness," a charity 3-on-3 basketball tournament, will be held Saturday, March 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the athletic center on the Homewood campus. The event will provide an opportunity to communicate the importance of breast cancer prevention, treatment and research. Proceeds and donations will go to fund the Johns Hopkins Breast Center.

In addition, there will be food, drinks, display tables and various prizes awarded to teams and spectators, including a grand prize to the tournament champions. Women and men are invited to come play, cheer and support a worthy cause. Registration for teams is $15 and ends Thurs., March 7. The event is sponsored by the Breast Center and the Alpha Kappa Delta Phi Sorority Inc.

Maryland Spinal Cord Injury Research Grants Program -- The State Board of Spinal Cord Injury Research is seeking proposals that can be translated into direct therapeutic benefits, particularly involving research focused on basic, preclinical and clinical research to restore neurological function in individuals with spinal cord injuries.

Award amount and duration are up to $300,000 in direct costs and indirect costs for up to three years based on merit and board approval. Independent investigators and ethnic minorities are encouraged to apply. The deadline for application is June 3.
