A Hopkins Wonderland

Snowflakes fall, over Gilman.
On the Beach, students sleddin'.
A wintry sight,
Quads covered in white.
Walkin' in a Hopkins wonderland.

Father Winter blew into town last Thursday, blanketing the Baltimore region with up to seven inches of snow and prompting a rare university closing, the first in several years. With classes canceled, overjoyed Homewood students broke out makeshift sleds, flung snowballs with wild abandon and got in touch with their creative sides. Not just an ordinary snowman will do, thought one undergraduate; how about a snow Godzilla? It was a brief respite from exams and work, as the university was back on normal schedule the next day.

Want to be better prepared when the next storm arrives? For the best way to find out how university activities are affected, see "Save this for a snowy day," in this issue.

What snowstorm? On Friday morning, the sunshine began clearing Homewood's paths and even brought out some spring apparel like Caitlin Hurst's shorts.
