Those searching for the perfect gift might want to add Evergreen House to their list of shopping destinations, as merchandise from 21 mid-Atlantic area museums will be available at the Carriage House Holiday Sale, to be held this weekend, Nov. 15-17, at the historic estate.

Evergreen's Carriage House will be stocked with giftware, clothing, toys, books and art works from cultural institutions including the American Visionary Art Museum, Winterthur, Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, Maryland Historical Society, St. Clement's Island-Potomac River Museum, Supreme Court Historical Society and the Walters Art Museum. Proceeds will support the educational programs of the participating museums and organizations.

In addition, three Johns Hopkins University Press authors will be on hand to sign books -- Maryland Basketball: Tales from Cole Field House by Paul McMullen from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday; Answering Their Country's Call: Marylanders in World War II by Michael H. Rogers from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday; and Small Town Baltimore: An Album of Memories by Gil Sandler from 1 to 3 p.m on Sunday. Also on Saturday, W. Barksdale Maynard, a visiting professor currently teaching a course on Homewood House, will sign his book Architecture in the United States: 1800-1850 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Sale hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $5 (free for children 12 and under); $3 on Friday for those with a JHU ID. Lunch and snacks will be available.
