Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

Sickle Cell Support Group -- The first monthly meeting of a sickle cell support group will be Thursday, May 2, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center, conference room 2140. The group leader is Anita Mentzer, M.S.W.

The group is sponsored by the Sickle Cell Program for Adults at Johns Hopkins. For information, call Sharon O'Neill at 410-955-7417.

New York City Day Trip -- The Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity is planning a trip for May 31. The trip will feature a tour of the Bloomberg LP corporate offices and a visit to the New York Stock Exchange, including an NYSE finance talk and VIP observation booth. The trip is open to the entire Hopkins community.

A chartered bus leaves the Columbia campus parking lot at 6 a.m., and returns at 9 p.m. Cost is $50 per person. Send checks, payable to Delta Sigma Pi, to Teresa Newman, 5957 Fern Court, Columbia, MD. 21044-3698. For further details e-mail Stan Whatley at swhatley@heery.com or phone 202-219-0717, or contact Veronica Black, 410-955-8132 or e-mail to vblack1@jhmi.edu.

New Easier Access to Welch Resources -- Access to the Remote Access to University Libraries system (RAUL) is being upgraded to use instead the university-wide log-in system, or JHED. Type in the JHED LoginID and personal password when prompted. This JHED LID and password will give you off-campus access to many of the university's secure networked services, including Web-based e-mail and library databases and electronic journals.

Those who originally registered with RAUL using a Welch Library Card and PIN, and are unfamiliar with their JHED LoginID, can go to the JHU Enterprise Directory at jhed.jhu.edu to search for their names, get a LoginID and create a password.

Anyone who has never used RAUL for off-campus access can visit proxy.hcf.jhu.edu/about.html for more information.
