Vendor Showcase -- The < a href="/~purchasing/"> Office of Purchasing Services is sponsoring a vendor showcase, featuring small minority-owned, woman-owned, veteran-owned and HUBZone businesses. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, in the Turner Auditorium Concourse.

A variety of services and products will be showcased, and there will be door prizes and refreshments.

Stem Cell Research Meeting -- The first meeting of the International Society for Stem Cell Research, jointly sponsored by the School of Medicine, is slated for June 8 to 11 in Washington, D.C. Registrations are accepted until the meeting.

The ISSCR was formed in 2002 as a venue for the exchange of ideas among investigators working on stem cells in many different organ systems and models. ISSCR seeks to provide information to the public and granting agencies regarding the biology and potential use of stem cells. The society also fosters discussion of the ethical concerns of stem cell use.

Want to Be a Camp Counselor? -- The Johns Hopkins University Summer Day Camp is looking for counselors and instructors for this summer. Camp dates are June 16 to July 25. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Managing Photographs, Files and Other University Assets -- An effort is under way to help Johns Hopkins departments and offices have a way to manage photographs, slides and virtually any other type of asset that can be digitized. A pilot program comprising users from academic departments, libraries, administration and public affairs offices is now testing a Web-based system for storing, cataloging, sharing and teaching with a variety of important files, from photographs and reports to pdfs and spreadsheets.

Certificate in Nonprofit Studies -- The Johns Hopkins Institute for Policy Studies is now accepting applications for its fall 2003 classes in the Certificate in Nonprofit Studies Program. The part-time program is designed to develop and enhance the knowledge and practical skills needed by nonprofit staff and volunteers to run a successful organization.
