A Visit from Maryland's First Lady

Maryland's first lady, Kendel Ehrlich, who has shown a keen interest in children's health issues and the health care community during her public life, visited the East Baltimore campus on May 27 for a tour.

During her two-hour stay, Ehrlich surveyed the pediatric oncology labs in the Bunting Blaustein Cancer Research Building and the hospital's Children's Center and spoke with physicians, researchers and senior administration. Hosting the first lady were Edward Miller, dean and CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine, and Ronald Peterson, president of the hospital and the Johns Hopkins Health System.

Ehrlich, who since 1996 has served on the board of the Maryland chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, ended her afternoon visit with stops at the hospital's dome and the Christ statue in the building's rotunda.
