and Brain Sciences; Michela Gallagher, Psychological and

Jonathan Bagger, Daniel Weiss, Michael Williams, Peter
Holland, Michela Gallagher, Gabrielle Spiegel and William
G. Bowen.
Guest speaker for the evening was William G. Bowen,
the president of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation since 1988
and the president of Princeton University from 1972 to
1988.
The Krieger-Eisenhower Professorships recognize
outstanding members of the faculty and honor prominent
Baltimorean Zanvyl Krieger's close friendship with Milton
Eisenhower, the ninth president of Johns Hopkins. The
professorships were established in 1992, at the time of
Krieger's $50 million commitment to the School of Arts and
Sciences, then the largest gift in Johns Hopkins
history.
These professorships are awarded to faculty of
distinction without restriction to particular departments
and recognize both extraordinary scholarly achievement and
broad and effective engagement with the academic life of
the Krieger School. Das was a 2000 recipient and Holland a
2001 recipient. Bagger, Connolly, Gallagher, Spiegel and
Williams were named in 2003.
