Crazy for Chili? JHU Wants You

We're on our way: The Johns Hopkins United Way campaign kicked off in September, and to date, $992,194 has been raised toward the combined goal of $2,382,100. Kudos to the School of Medicine for already reaching 49 percent of its goal.

You've been bragging that you make the best chili, so prove it. Enter the 1st Annual Hopkins Chili Cook-Off, to be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, in Homewood's Glass Pavilion. To sweeten the pot, the chili cook-off also will include a bake-off for cookies and cakes.

Entries are $10 each, and you can enter as a group or individual. Spectators will be able to sample the chili and baked goods (while they last!) and purchase lunch for $4, which includes chili, corn bread, dessert and beverage. All proceeds benefit the Johns Hopkins University United Way Campaign.

To register, go online to www.jhu.edu/unitedway.

Trophies and ribbons will be distributed to the top-three winners in each category. Any questions, call Adrienne Gilchrist at 410-516-7188.
