A little TLC for D.C.G. and the crew

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

Conservation technicians recently performed the annual washing and waxing on the Homewood sculptures. Using nonabrasive products and soft-bristle brushes, Margot Curran (pictured) and Steven Jones spiffed up the statues of Daniel Coit Gilman and William Henry Welch at Shriver Hall, the Sidney Lanier sculpture on Charles Street, the Discus Thrower and Runner at the Athletic Center and other works. The annual maintenance of the campus's outdoor sculptures is intended to enhance the surface finishes and also act as a defense against atmospheric conditions.
