A&S Announces Undergraduate Residential Program in Washington

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

The Krieger School of Arts and Sciences has announced a new Aitchison Public Service Undergraduate Fellowship in Washington, a residential program that will give juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn 15 credits while gaining experience and making connections in the capital during the fall semester.

The program is named for Beatrice Aitchison, who received her doctorate from Johns Hopkins in 1933.

Aitchison fellows will take three academic courses taught by Johns Hopkins faculty; intern with elected officials, lobbyists or civil servants; develop an individual research project based on the internship; attend lectures by White House consultants, ambassadors and journalists; have the option of taking a related graduate course; receive $800 toward housing at the University of California dormitories; and explore the social and cultural resources of Washington.

To request an application, rising juniors and seniors should call Advanced Academic Programs at 410-516-6057 or go to www.jhu.edu/advanced. To ask specific questions about the fellowship or curriculum, call Professor Benjamin Ginsberg at 410-516-5568.

An information session will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, in the Clipper Room of Shriver Hall, Homewood. Applications must be submitted by April 4.
