MSE Symposium: John Stossel Takes Hard Look at 'Money in the Media'

John Stossel

John Stossel, recently named the new co-anchor of ABC's 20/20, will discuss "Influence over Information: Money in the Media" at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, in Homewood's Shriver Hall Auditorium.

Stossel's speech is part of the 2003 Milton S. Eisenhower Symposium, The Great American Experiment: A Juxtaposition of Capitalism and Democracy, a student-run series examining how the two pillars of American society — capitalism and democracy — interact, and how their interactions affect Americans.

The lecture will be followed by a question-and-answer period, and a reception and book signing in the Clipper Room.

Stossel has attracted a strong following on 20/20 with his weekly "Give Me A Break" segments, which showcase his opinion on American culture. He also is known for his special reports that take a hard look at some of society's most pressing subjects, including gender differences, governmental blunders and parenting issues. His work has netted 19 Emmy awards. In addition, Stossel is author of the book Give Me A Break: How I Exposed Hucksters, Scam Artists, Cheats and Charlatans — and Then Became the Scourge of the Liberal Media.
