Brody Presents Science Coalition Award

On July 15, William R. Brody, president of Johns Hopkins, presented U.S. Sen. Paul S. Sarbanes of Maryland with the Champion of Science award as part of the Science Coalition's Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill.

The Science Coalition is an alliance of more than 400 organizations, institutions and individuals who are dedicated to expanding and strengthening the federal government's investment in university-based basic research.

Following a breakfast and presentation of the awards, Les Hanakahi, an assistant professor in the Bloomberg School of Public Health's Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Theodore Poehler, the university's vice provost for research, visited Maryland congressional offices to share Johns Hopkins' support of basic research.
