Brody Presents Science Coalition Award
On July 15, William R.
Brody, president of Johns Hopkins, presented U.S. Sen.
Paul S. Sarbanes of Maryland with the Champion of Science
award as part of the Science Coalition's Advocacy Day on
Capitol Hill.
The Science Coalition is an alliance of more than 400
organizations, institutions and individuals who are
dedicated to expanding and strengthening the federal
government's investment in university-based basic research.
Following a breakfast and presentation of the awards,
Les Hanakahi, an assistant professor in the Bloomberg
School of Public Health's
Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and
Theodore Poehler, the
university's vice provost for research, visited Maryland
congressional offices to share Johns Hopkins' support of
basic research.
