Professional Clothing Drive

Gently-used professional men's and women's clothing will be collected on Friday, April 16, in several university locations. Women's clothing will be donated to the Women's Housing Coalition and men's clothing to Christopher Place Employment Academy. Clothing should be clean and in good condition.

To participate, place men's and women's clothing in gender-separate, marked bags, and drop them off at one of the following locations by Thursday April 15.

Reunion 2004: Homecoming at Homewood

A celebration weekend for reunion classes and all Homewood alumni is scheduled for April 29 to May 2. The weekend is an opportunity for alums to revisit the Homewood campus, relive special memories and reconnect with old friends. Highlights include the Alumni Lunch on the Lawn with President Brody, tours of the newly renovated Homewood campus, lectures and seminars with faculty, the traditional pre-game Homecoming crab cake luncheon and a Blue Jays lacrosse game vs. Towson.

Spring Volunteer Project

Volunteers are needed on Saturday, April 24, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., to assist Civic Works Community Lot team transform vacant lots in East Baltimore into parks and gardens. Johns Hopkins employees will work alongside community members to reclaim vacant, desolate space to beautify and green our city. Volunteers will be cleaning litter, clearing overgrowth, preparing the soil or planting. All tools, supplies and gloves, as well as coffee/continental breakfast, bottled water and a box lunch, will be provided.

Certificate in Nonprofit Studies

The Johns Hopkins Institute for Policy Studies is accepting applications for fall semester classes in the Certificate in Nonprofit Studies Program. This part-time program is designed to develop and enhance the knowledge and practical skills needed by nonprofit staff and volunteers to run a successful organization. Self-Defense Class

An ongoing self-defense class will begin Tuesday, April 13, at the Cooley Center. Taught by Ron McDaniel, Tai-Wing Chun combines Tai Chi and Wing Chun to allow for a quick and effective defense against any attack. A preliminary trial session will run for six classes, Tuesdays and Fridays, from 7 to 9 p.m. Cost to members will be $59, and $79 for non-members. Prorated prices are available.
