George Peabody Library in Spotlight at Baltimore Book
Festival
The George Peabody Library joins this weekend's
Baltimore Book Festival, the mid-Atlantic's premier
celebration of the literary arts, with a series of
events.
The Libraries of Mount Vernon walking tours, to be
held at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, feature
the Peabody Library, the Maryland Historical Society and
Enoch Pratt Free Library. Tours will convene at the Peabody
and remain at each location for approximately 30 minutes.
Also on Saturday, "The Book Guys," WBJC 91.5 FM's
Allan Stypeck and Mike Cuthbert, will record two live shows
for their nationally syndicated call-in radio program at 2
p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Peabody. From 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.,
following the recording session, books may be brought in by
the audience to be reviewed and appraised. "The Book Guys"
is broadcast locally at 8 p.m. on Saturdays on WBJC.
Nicholas A. Basbanes, author of A Splendor of
Letters: The Permanence of Books in an Impermanent
World, will make a special appearance during each "Book
Guys" broadcast and will sign books from 2:30 to 5 p.m.
