Surgeon General to Speak

Richard Carmona

Richard Carmona, surgeon general of the United States, will deliver the annual Gardner Smith Lecture, an endowed Bayview event, at surgical grand rounds at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6, in Tilghman Auditorium, East Baltimore campus. Carmona, a trauma surgeon and specialist in public health preparedness, is a former high school drop-out and decorated Vietnam veteran who went on to become a paramedic, R.N., physician, university professor, hospital CEO, public health officer and health care system CEO. He is expected to address top-priority issues facing the nation, including tort reform. See Lectures.
