Curtain up on SummerStage

The Loyal Opposition starts the fun on June 4.

Political satire takes center stage when the quick-witted comedy review group The Loyal Opposition opens SummerStage at the Mattin Center with three shows on June 4 and 5. On tap: a Bush-Kerry debate, Larry King celebrity interviews and visits from Colin Powell and Bill Clinton. (For details, see Theater, below.)

Other events in the SummerStage series, which takes place in the Swirnow Theater of the Mattin Center, Homewood campus, are a family dance concert featuring the Stephanie Powell Danse-Ensemble, a Baltimore company whose performances integrate ballet, modern dance and jazz, June 12; White Frost Falls, a tragicomic theater piece about a Japanese noblewoman separated from her Samurai husband and featuring both deaf and hearing actors, June 18 and 19; and performances by the Collective, a local modern dance company whose pieces include a contemporary ballet performed to the music of U2 and a quirky take on television sitcoms, June 25 and 26. Ticket prices range from $5 to $10.

For more information or reservations, call 410-516-4695 or see The Gazette calendar for details on specific performances.
