Ailey II Dance Troupe to Perform at
Homewood
The acclaimed dance troupe Ailey II will perform at 8
p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, in Homewood's Shriver Hall.
Showcasing the talent of some of America's best young
dancers, Ailey II is the junior company of the Alvin Ailey
American Dance Theater. Dancers typically spend two years
in the troupe, gaining performing experience and improving
their skills with the guidance of artistic director Sylvia
Waters. Many Ailey II dancers are chosen to join the Alvin
Ailey American Dance Theater, and many more go on to be
successful dancers, teachers and choreographers.
Outreach is central to Ailey II's mission, and the
troupe has received numerous honors for its performances at
schools and for community groups throughout the country.
For its Shriver Hall appearance — part of
Family Weekend
on the Homewood campus — Ailey II plans to primarily
perform choreography by Alvin Ailey.
Tickets in advance are $26 for general admission; $24
