JHU Performers Wanted
Talented Johns Hopkins students, faculty and staff are
invited to apply for the Homewood Arts Program's Fall
Festival Variety Show, scheduled for 7 to 9:30 p.m. on
Sat., Oct. 2, location TBA. Share your talent with friends
and co-workers in solo performances or small groups. The
show will have 12 to 15 acts in the categories of comedy,
dance, drama, instrumental and vocal; a piano will be
provided. Each act will have a strict five- to eight-minute
limit.
Participants will be chosen by Homewood Arts director
Eric Beatty and members of the Homewood Arts Certificate
Committee, which includes students, faculty and staff in
the arts.
To apply, contact Beatty at ebeatty@jhu.edu with a
description of your background and your act. The
application deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10.
JHU/American Red Cross Blood Drives
Homewood and East Baltimore blood drives have been
scheduled for the fall at the following times and
places:
Homewood campus: Glass
Pavilion, 1 to 7 p.m., Sept. 20; 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Sept.
21 and 22; and 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Nov. 17 and 18.

Anyone interested in giving blood should check the
eligibility guidelines on the JHU blood drive Web site or
call the American Red Cross at 800-GIVE-LIFE. Regardless of
eligibility to give blood, interested individuals can

Health Classes for Faculty and Staff
The Office of Benefits Administration, in conjunction with
Occupational Health Services, is offering the following
classes to JHU faculty and staff.
Yoga classes (all levels) are being held on the
Homewood campus from noon to 1 p.m., Mondays and
Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 13. Cost for the 10-week
session is $30 or $50, for classes once or twice a week.
Seated massages will continue to be offered on the
Homewood, East Baltimore and Eastern campuses. Given by a
certified massage therapist, the 15-minute seated massages
cost $10.
Muscle conditioning and toning classes are being held
on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12:15 to 1 p.m. on
the Homewood campus. Cost for the 10-week session is $25 or
$45, for classes once or twice a week.
Weight Watchers at Work will begin a 14-week session
in early October on the Homewood campus. The class meets at
noon. The cost is $148. A class will also meet on the East
Baltimore campus on Fridays at noon.
