Making Meetings Easier

The Office of Conference Services can now assist clients in creating Web pages and setting up online registration capabilities, along with the scheduling, catering, parking and tech support services it has been offering. Conference Services provides an economical, reliable way of dealing with the logistics necessary to conduct a successful meeting either on or off the Homewood campus. Meetings planned for summer have the benefit of using Homewood campus residence halls. In addition, area hotels have agreed to offer clients of Conference Services affordable rates for lodging and meeting space. Better Access to Library Services

To provide Hopkins Population Center faculty, staff and students with timely and efficient access to a wide range of resources, a new model has been developed with support from the Welch Library.

The Population Digital Library and Touchdown Suite provides computer access, a small conference room and a mobile computer lab for in-class training. Located at E4643 in the School of Public Health building, it is open from 11 a.m. to noon and 1:15 to 2 p.m. on Mondays; noon to 2 p.m. Tuesdays; 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays; and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays. The suite is also open by appointment.

Through the Population Digital Library at poplibrary.jhmi.edu, researchers can access full-text electronic resources including electronic journals, books, bibliographic databases and sources for publicly available data sets. Liaison services offered by Claire Twose and Susan Rohner include database searching, setting up automatic table of contents delivery (current awareness services), data gathering, Internet searching and individual or small group educational activities.
