Voice Mail Changes

The deadline is approaching for all users of the Homewood and Mount Washington telecommunications systems to initialize their new mailboxes. A new voice mail system will go into effect on Friday, Dec. 15, and callers will not be able to leave messages in uninitialized mailboxes once the new system goes on line. In addition to providing enhanced features, the new voice mail system will allow for easy forwarding of messages between Homewood, Mount Washington, East Baltimore, Bayview and White Marsh. It also will bolster voice communications disaster recovery capabilities. Users can find instructions on how to initialize their new mailbox by going to www.it.jhu.edu/telecom and scrolling down to the "New VoiceMail Setup Instruction" link. Anyone with problems or questions should call JHU Telecom on 443-997-7628.

New ESL Courses

Two courses, Effective Presentations and Advanced Academic and Professional Writing, have been added to the spring English as a Second Language schedule. Students in Advanced Academic and Professional Writing will read and analyze the content, structure and style of a wide range of professional and academic writing in order to prepare their own articles, reports, critiques and proposals. The prerequisite is 492.077 or an appropriate score on the placement exam given on the first night of class.

Registration continues through Jan. 18. Tuition is $795 per course; JHU employees and their spouses are eligible for tuition remission through their Benefits Office. To download a registration/application form, go to www.jhu.edu/ltc/esl.
