More than $135,000 was raised at Heartfest 2006, an evening of heart-healthy gourmet dining, dancing and consumer education to benefit the Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Preventive Cardiology Center. Approximately 1,300 guests attended the event, held Jan. 28 at Martin’s West.

Recognized for their support of heart disease prevention were medical honoree Victor McKusick, University Professor of Medical Genetics; community honorees Joe Cowan, a star JHU lacrosse player inducted in the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame and the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame, and his wife, Ozzie; and celebrity honoree John Astin, actor and visiting professor in the Writing Seminars, who was joined by his actor sons Sean Astin and Mackenzie Astin.
