New Meeting Facilities Available

The Department of Housing and Dining's Office of Conference Services announces the availability of Charles Commons, the new Johns Hopkins residence at Homewood, as a professional year-round setting for meetings, seminars, institutes and banquets.

The recently completed 4,850-square-foot banquet/meeting room and two large breakout rooms are equipped with the latest meeting presentation technology. Well-appointed suite-style single-residence rooms are available in Charles Commons during the summer months; area hotels will accommodate guests during the academic year.

The Office of Conference Services also offers complete meeting management services, which include Web-registration technology and credit card payment processing, all at affordable, highly competitive rates. Turkeys for Families in Need

Support the Vernon Rice Memorial Butterball Turkey Program at Johns Hopkins by purchasing a Butterball turkey gift certificate for a family in need. The cost is $15, payable by check or money order made out to JHU Butterball.

Contributions for Thanksgiving must be received by Nov. 16 in the Office of Faculty, Staff and Retiree Programs, 631-N Wyman Park Building, 3400 N. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21218-2693. Contributions received after Nov. 16 and before Dec. 15 will be used for families in need for the December holidays. International Society Needs Volunteers

Adopt-a-Family Program

The Adopt-a-Family Program, organized by the Office of Faculty, Staff and Retiree Programs, helps families in need with gifts, clothing and food that they otherwise could not afford. Details on the specific needs of families and agencies will be provided to interested faculty members, staff, students or departments. The deadline to sign up is Dec. 8. Thanksgiving Dinner for East Baltimore Families

The JHHS Department of Community Services will provide Thanksgiving dinner to families in the East Baltimore area. A $20 contribution (cash or check made out to JHHS Community Services) will buy dinner for one family. Send or bring your contribution by Nov. 20 to Suite 510, 550 Building, Baltimore, MD 21205.
