City Schools Volunteer Day
Each year Baltimore City asks local organizations to
participate in its BELIEVE in our Schools initiative,
during which volunteers help with a facilities project at a
designated school. This year, Johns Hopkins and East
Baltimore Development Inc. staff members have been asked
to volunteer to paint the Thomas G. Hayes Elementary
School, located at 601 N. Central Ave. in East Baltimore,
to freshen it up for the students before it reopens. The
project is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 or 4 p.m. (depending
on the time needed to complete the job) on Thursday, July
27. To register, call 410-614-0744 or 410-614-2430 or
e-mail

AIDS Service Fundraiser
The sixth annual Fundraiser for the Michael Del Bianco
Pharmacy Fund for the Johns Hopkins AIDS Service will be
held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, at Melba's,
3126 Greenmount Ave.
With money raised at this event (more than $7,000 last
year), the fund has been able to continue to directly
assist HIV positive and AIDS-diagnosed patients by helping
with the costs of prescription medications. Businesspeople,
community members, the media, friends and family are being
asked for their support and will be recognized at the
event. For more information, contact Lillian Vickers at
410-955-7394 or 410-585-4331 or Kelly Lowensen at
410-614-5458.
