What Is It?

No, it's not a sculpture. The 20-foot-high structure
that has sprouted up on the Homewood campus near Garland
Hall is actually a mock-up of the exterior wall systems for
the future Decker Quadrangle buildings. The left portion
represents the Computational Sciences building, and the
right is Mason Hall, the new admissions and visitor center.
The large-scale mock-up, done for all JHU construction,
provides design validation, a craftsmanship standard and a
sneak peek at the structure's exterior materials and
finishes. The Decker Quadrangle project, which also
includes a three-level 604-space garage underneath the
quad's lawn, is scheduled for completion in summer
2007.
