Blue Jays championship LAX games now available on DVD

The Department of Athletics has launched an online DVD store at hopkinssports.cstv.com, the official Web site of Johns Hopkins athletics. The store currently features seven men's lacrosse DVDs — including the 1984, 1985, 1987, 2005 and 2007 NCAA Championship games — and other matchups will be added in the future.

Each DVD is $24.99. Information about shipping before Christmas is on the Web site.

 

Urban Health Institute begins Small Grants Program

The Urban Health Institute last week announced its Small Grants Program, which is designed to advance research and programming that relate to the health and well-being of the residents of Baltimore and draw implications for urban health both nationally and globally.

The grants will be given in three categories: student-community projects, faculty-community research and course developments. In each of these categories, partnership with a community agency or, in the case of course development, a community leader, will be essential.

More information on the Small Grants program, and an application, is available on the Urban Health Institute Web site at www.jhsph.edu/urbanhealth. The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11.

A meeting for interested students will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, room E6519.

 

Deadlines are today, Dec. 10, for last 'Gazette' issue of semester

Because of the upcoming midyear vacation, The Gazette will not be published the weeks of Dec. 24 and 31. Next week's calendar will include events scheduled from Monday, Dec. 17, through Monday, Jan. 7. The deadline for that issue's calendar submissions and classified advertisements is noon today, Dec. 10.

 

Correction

In the Cheers feature on Nov. 26, Anne Belcher's name was misspelled. Belcher, an associate professor in the School of Nursing's Department of Acute and Chronic Care, was named a fellow in the Academy of Nursing Education.
