'Wall Street Journal' Tech Expert to Give Carey School's Ginder Lecture

Walt Mossberg

By Andrew Blumberg
Carey Business School

Nationally acclaimed Wall Street Journal technology columnist Walt Mossberg will be the speaker at the Carey Business School's William M. and Katherine B. Ginder Lecture on Thursday, Nov. 15, to be held at SAIS. His 7 p.m. lecture, "Freeing the Digital Consumer," will be preceded by a reception starting at 6:30 p.m.

Mossberg, a reporter and editor at The Journal since 1980, is the author and creator of the paper's weekly "Personal Technology" column, which has appeared every Thursday since 1991. He also produces and co-hosts "D: All Things Digital," The Journal's annual high-tech conference, whose past interviewees have included Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and other leaders in the technology and media industries.

A 1999 Gerald Loeb Award winner for Commentary, Mossberg is the only technology writer to be so honored. In May 2002, he was inducted into the ranks of the Business News Luminaries, the hall of fame for business journalists. That same year, he won the World Technology Award for Media and Journalism.

Established by a gift in 1989 from William M. Ginder, a 1954 bachelor of science graduate of JHU's McCoy College, and his wife, Katherine, the Ginder Lecture Fund brings prominent speakers to the Carey Business School to discuss timely and stimulating issues relevant to the business community.

Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to carey.jhu.edu/ginder, or call 410-516-9739 for more information.
