Staff recognition season came to a close on Sept. 4 as
Edward D. Miller, dean of the medical
faculty and CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine, and Charlene
Hayes, university vice president for human
resources, acknowledged the longevity and contributions of
staff from the
School of Medicine. The
event, the last in a series of staff receptions that
started in April, was held in the Turner Concourse.
More than 500 staff members — 90 with 15 years,
129 with 10 years and 325 with five years of
service, representing over 4,000 collective years —
were invited to be publicly lauded and receive self-
chosen, custom-designed recognition awards. For those who
picked up their award at the event, the
official JHU duffel bag was the most popular, according to
Sondra Ponzi, who oversees the recognition
program for the Office of
Faculty, Staff and Retiree Programs.
