To celebrate the next phase of Gilman Hall's major renovation, the School of Arts and Sciences hosted a Ceremony of the Keys on June 2. The invitation-only event was attended by the deans, members of the school's advisory board, donors and Daniel Coit Gilman himself. The "spirit" of the university's first president personally passed on the building's keys (ceremonial cast-iron ones) to a representative of the construction firm Bovis Lend Lease. The construction crews, which began work last summer, now have free rein of the building as faculty and staff all moved out by May 30.
