The Carey Business School this week launches Leaders & Legends, a lecture series featuring today's most influential business and public policy minds examining topics of global interest and importance. The series is designed to enrich the intellectual and academic life of the school and to engage the business and community leaders of the region in an examination of the most compelling challenges and opportunities facing society today.

The inaugural speaker is Gen. James Cartwright, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who will present remarks titled "Leading Organizational Change to Meet New Challenges" at a breakfast from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel.

Cartwright, the nation's second-highest-ranking military officer, has directed troops in Georgia, Afghanistan and other locations across the globe and has managed reorganization efforts at the Pentagon. His duties include chairing the Joint Requirements Oversight Council and co-chairing the Defense Acquisition Board. In addition, he serves as a member of the National Security Council Deputies Committee, the Nuclear Weapons Council and the Missile Defense executive board.

Admission to the event is $35. To register and for more information, go to carey.jhu.edu/leadersandlegends.
