What Went Wrong? Is a Bailout the Answer?

Martin Wolf

Over the past 25 years, the world has weathered multiple financial crises, with the subprime lending crisis being the latest and the scariest. In his new book, Fixing Global Finance, published by the Johns Hopkins University Press, Financial Times columnist Martin Wolf explains why global imbalances cause financial crises — including the one ravaging the United States right now — and outlines the steps for ending this destructive cycle.

The book — already clocking in at No. 200 on Amazon.com — is a new title in Francis Fukuyama's Forum on Constructive Capitalism series. Fukuyama is the Bernard L. Schwartz Professor of International Political Economy at SAIS.

Launching the book in D.C. last week at SAIS, Wolf explained the financial crisis and outlined how to end the destructive cycle. To hear his talk, go to: www.sais-jhu.edu/news-and-events/index.htm#wolf.
