Flowers Foods Chairman Emeritus to Speak at Leaders &
Legends

Amos Ryals McMullian, chairman emeritus of the board
of directors of Flowers Foods, is the
scheduled speaker for the May installment of the Carey Business School's
Leaders & Legends lecture
series, to be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 14,
at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel.
Flowers Foods is one of the nation's leading producers
and marketers of packaged bakery foods
for retail and food service customers, with annual sales of
more than $2.4 billion for brands including
Nature's Own, Cobblestone Mill and Sunbeam. In his 42-year
career with the company, McMullian has
served as chairman of the board and chief executive
officer, as well as chairman of the board and
CEO of Flowers Industries. He became chairman emeritus in
January 2006.
McMullian has also served on the boards of the Keebler
Co., World Wide Lanier and Hughes
Supply. Active for many years in local, state and national
politics, he is a member of the charter group
of the GOP Action Committee. He also holds leadership
positions in numerous civic clubs and
community organizations in Flowers Foods' headquarters
location of Thomasville, Ga.
A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, McMullian
is a graduate of Florida State
University.
