State Authorizes $2.2 Million Grant for MSEL On the final night of the 1995 legislative session of the Maryland General Assembly, the Senate passed a bond bill authorizing a matching grant of $2.2 million to the Milton S. Eisenhower Library. "This grant will help provide for a state-of-the-art library with enhanced services, augmented telecommunications capabilities and better accommodations for more readers," said Stephen G. Nichols, interim Sheridan Director of the library. "The project will also include the upgrading of the building's heating and air conditioning systems, which will greatly improve the safety and preservation of the library's collections and make for a more congenial ambience for the library patrons." Ellen Stifler, the library's development director, added that the funding will allow the library to return to the Eisenhower Library the government publications collection, which has been housed for several years in the New Engineering Building.
