Hundreds of housestaff, students, faculty and friends greeted President William R. Brody at a reception held in his honor on the East Baltimore campus April 23.

The event marked the last of a series of events celebrating Brody's inauguration as the university's 13th president. It was a deliberately casual and low-key affair that allowed Brody time to meet with many, including a chat with emeritus Director of Medicine McGehee Harvey and emeritus School of Medicine Dean Richard Ross.

Later, the president heard official greetings offered by the president of the hospital and the deans of Medicine, Nursing and Public Health.

Seniors Allison Lampton and John Gagliardi were crowned Hopkins' first-ever Homecoming queen and king in ceremonies prior to the Blue Jay-Navy men's lacrosse match on April 19. They were among seven finalists in the Student Council-sponsored event, which generated nearly 500 nomination forms offering 126 men and 101 women for consideration.

The newly crowned queen and king received complimentary admission to all Homecoming events, dinner at the Johns Hopkins Club, official Hopkins graduation watches and a place in the university's history books, wearing the way-cool trappings of royalty.
