House Proud

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

After two semesters of hands-on construction work and fund raising, the 100 undergraduate and graduate students who make up the Johns Hopkins chapter of Habitat for Humanity turned over the keys of its first completely sponsored house to its new owner, Greg Boone, on March 28.

Building a house is a team effort.

Amanda Yarnell, a senior who brought Habitat to Hopkins, spearheaded the project, which was done in partnership with Sandtown Habitat. Financial support toward the house was provided by the Young Alumni Fund, the Alumni Association and Homewood Student Affairs.

Blueprint for success: Amanda Yarnell, president of the JHU Habitat chapter, presents Greg Boone with a T-shirt bearing floor plans of his new home.
