Arnold Tapped For Top Honor In Women's Basketball

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

Senior guard Angie Arnold has been named the recipient of the 15th annual Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award, which is presented annually to the nation's outstanding female college basketball player under 5-foot-6 who has excelled athletically and academically.

She was selected by a panel of representatives from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

Arnold is the second Hopkins player to win the award, joining former teammate Amy Dodrill, who received it in 1995. Hopkins is the only school with two recipients, and only three winners have come from a non-Division 1 school.

"This is a well-deserved honor to cap the career of an outstanding player and person," said women's basketball coach Nancy Blank. Blank is the only coach in the nation to have coached two recipients of the award.
