Internet Fair to Make Net Easier to Surf

     The Welch Medical Library will sponsor an Internet Fair Jan.
24 to 26 at the Tilghman Room on the ground floor of the Turner
Building on the East Baltimore campus. Free and open to all
members of the Hopkins community, the fair will consist of a
series of presentations about computer networking and the
Internet.
     "We know the Internet is used by over 5,000 people with
Welchlink accounts," said Karla Hahn, network-based service
manager at the Welch Medical Library. "The biggest confusion we
find among users is knowing what the Internet can do for them.
These presentations will cover what resources are available at
Hopkins."
     The fair is designed to offer something for every level of
computer user, starting with an "Introduction to the Internet" at
9 a.m. and progressing in one-hour sessions through Gopher, World
Wide Web and Internet resources for basic science, public health,
treating patients and medical educators. In addition, hands-on
training sessions with limited enrollment will be offered in the
library's educational computing laboratory.
     Introductory and general information sessions will take
place on Jan. 24 and  25. On Jan. 26 the fair will feature
special sessions for professional network managers. Subjects will
include client/server technology and an introductory session to
TCP/IP technology. For more information, or to register for
