India Lowres Named Interim Executive Director of Alumni Relations

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

India Lowres, associate director of Alumni Relations, has been appointed interim executive director of Alumni Relations, effective Feb. 1. She takes over from Jerry Schnydman, who is leaving the Alumni Relations Office to become executive assistant to President William R. Brody.

In announcing Lowres' appointment, Robert R. Lindgren, vice president for development and alumni relations, said, "I appreciate India's willingness to serve Johns Hopkins in this key interim role. She and the rest of the Alumni Relations staff will carry on the important work of the alumni program through the spring. We have initiated a formal search for a new executive director, and we will fill this position as soon as possible," he added.

Lowres has been employed at Johns Hopkins since her graduation from Homewood in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in humanities. She was associate director of undergrad-uate admissions before joining the Alumni Relations Office in 1989.

"India is well-equipped to step in as interim executive director," Schnydman said. "In her role as associate director, she has worked extensively with the Alumni Council and has overseen all alumni chapter activity outside the Baltimore/Washington area. She has a clear grasp of our organization and mission."
