A Grantsmanship Workshop for Graduate and Postdoctoral Students will be held March 25, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the Glass Pavilion (note change of location), Levering Hall, on the Homewood campus. The purpose of the workshop is to acquaint students registered in Homewood division schools with the resources available on the Homewood campus for seeking sponsored funding for research and to introduce those students to methods and strategies for improving research proposals. Registration is required to assess the number of students attending and to determine the location of breakout sessions.

The Department of Physical Therapy is offering an exercise equipment lesson to users of exercise equipment such as the treadmill, exercise ball, weights and others. Users can learn how to maximize the effectiveness of their workouts.

All Johns Hopkins residents, fellows and faculty are invited to attend an educational symposium on the essential elements of managed care, on Saturday, March 28, in the Tilghman Room, Turner Building.

In this symposium, titled "Understanding Managed Care: A Symposium for Johns Hopkins Housestaff and Faculty," a nationally recognized faculty will discuss the principles of managed care, including payment mechanisms, care management and network development. Ethical dilemmas encountered with managed care patients will be discussed. If you are concerned about the increasing influence of managed care on medicine, this symposium will familiarize you with its terms, tenets and trends.

Seating is limited, so advance registration is required. Cost for the symposium is $200 for faculty, no charge for residents and fellows.
