Sept. 13, 1:28 a.m.: Three students and a
visitor, walking
north in the 3000 block of N. Calvert Street, were approached by
two men who displayed a handgun and took their property. The
assailants fled north on Calvert Street and then east on 31st
Street. Sept. 16, 2:35 p.m.: A student walking north in the 2800 block of N. Howard Street was struck by two male assailants who demanded the student's property. They fled north on Howard Street. The student was not injured. Corporate Security Services at JHMI advise all personnel of an apparent fraudulent letter of solicitation that has been mailed to numerous locations on the East Baltimore campus. The letter is from an individual who identifies himself as Mr. A. Al-Hakim from Lagos, Nigeria. The letter requests the receiver to supply their full name and address, bank name, address, telephone and fax number, as well as their account numbers and name of beneficiary. In return for the information, Al-Hakim promises to share $25 million in unclaimed Nigerian funds. The letter is an apparent hoax and should be disregarded by anyone receiving it.
