Pizza Pi

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

What started a few years ago as a onetime way for the School of Engineering to welcome incoming freshmen and transfer students has turned into a much-anticipated annual event.

Steve McLea, Dean Ilene Busch-Vishniac and Kenneth Chen share some table talk over slices of the 200 pizzas ordered for dinner.

On Sept. 24, more than 750 students--from all classes, undergraduate and above--turned out at the Homewood campus's Glass Pavilion to get a piece of the 200 Pizza Hut pies and spend a couple of hours getting acquainted with each other, faculty members and Dean Ilene Busch-Vishniac.

Yash Katsumi, Janet Cuy and Marybeth Miceli enjoy pizza al fresco. More than 750 engineering students attended this annual event.
